Emilio Escartin, Fuel Venture Capital Middle East Market Executive Partner

We are proud to announce the latest addition to the Fuel Venture Capital leadership team: Emilio Escartin, who joins us as our first Market Executive in the Middle East.

With more than two decades’ experience in the world of private equity and venture capital, Emilio will leader the charge in expanding Fuel Venture Capital’s global foot print and network of Limited Partners in Western Asia.

Much of Emilio’s experience in the world of venture capital/private equity as it exists in the Middle East was gleaned from working directly within the region in a number of countries, such as Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar, among others.

As an expert fundraiser deeply steeped in Middle Eastern culture and well-connected across the region, Emilio is in charge of expanding Fuel Venture Capital’s global footprint and network of Limited Partners beyond the Western world into Western Asia.

Prior to joining our team this month, Emilio headed up Private Equity KD Funds-Management Company in Slovenia, where he spearheaded the launch of the first SME private equity fund for the countries of Slovenia and Croatia, carrying on the mandates of the European Investment Fund and the Slovenian Development Bank.

Emilio has also served as Head of Investments for Bahrain Development Bank, the government bank for The Kingdom of Bahrain, launching the Investment Division (PE and VC) and promoting private equity initiatives for SMEs, startups and fund of funds.

He is a mentor of CH9, the largest startup accelerator program in Bahrain, and other such organizations, such as the MIT Pan Arab Forum in Beirut, Lebanon.

Emilio is also a professor of the prestigious Spanish institution, IE Business School, based in Madrid. He holds a diploma in Microfinance from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.

He is regular keynote speaker and moderator in the Middle East LPs summits, with topics related to Private Equity/Venture Capital, Investment Strategy allocation and new technology trends (FinTech, MedTech, Artificial Intelligence, Smart Cities, Cybersecurity, Clean Energy, Blockchain and others)

This year, Emilio served as a speaker at the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting at Davos, in Switzerland.
